Purpose:
Based on PLI’s mission statement that indicates that PLI will “foster conditions that promote active learning for each individual student,” and because the goal of PLI is to help students develop “the tools to be successful in life and whatever profession they choose,” it is important for our students to engage in community service opportunities. Further, in PLI’s vision, our goals include supporting students to feel important, develop confidence in their abilities, be in control of their destiny, and give back to the community through sharing effort, knowledge, and time. Collaboration with the community including service, job shadow experiences, internships, research resources, and mentorship is essential to meet these goals and help PLI to create successful students, one student at a time.
