PLI was opened in 2003 with four staff members and 68 students.

At that time, the idea of a project-based, individualized curriculum based on Constructivist principles was relatively new to Milwaukee.

PLI and its staff have been pioneers of innovative education in the project-based arena.

In 2004, PLI doubled its student population and staff.

In the spring of 2006, the first class of graduates graduated from PLI.

In 2007, PLI graduated its first full class of students, who started at PLI their freshman year.

In the past few years, PLI has grown and changed to keep up with the education evolution, and we are looking forward to continuing to meet the needs of our students in the coming years.
